Many people have spoken in the wake of Margaret Thatcher’s death last week. But one man has been resolutely silent, and more and more people are desperate to hear him speak. Alan B’stard was synonymous with the Thatcher era and the Tory party (ok, he briefly deserted to the Labour party in the early ’00’s, but only to make them more like the Tory’s then the Conservatives ever where,) as was the man who played him on screen: Rik Mayall. Many are now saying they are desperate for a one of New Statesman episode, or at least a short sketch, marking this end of an era for Alan – and see how he reacts to it.
An interesting idea, and possible, as Rik has often returned to the B’Stard character over the last few years for several projects.
Writers Marks and Gran are also still full of ideas for the Tory politician, and would this new, weird, political climate not be perfect B’stard breeding ground?
