Danny John-Jules known for his roles in Red Dwarf and Death in Paradise has written., produced and directed a movie. Called “Bucky” it’s a story seen from the eyes of a five-year-old boy, who through no fault of his own comes face to face with disaster. The movie will be shown at the BFM Film Festival.
Danny has said about the film: “It’s a hard hitting film, it’s not Mickey Mouse. (…) It shows how a child’s innocence can be taken away subconsciously, how a child can be influenced by the things around them without the people influencing them realising. It’s one of those ones where you ask yourself ‘do I do that?’”
He admitted that watching his own children, inspired his idea as he watched his son spin round the kitchen on a tricycle after watching motorbike races.
Starring Colin Salmon and Casualty star Amanda Mealing,‘Bucky’ will serve as a public information film as well as going to all the film festivals.
Last year Danny used a special showing of “Bucky” to raise money for the Princess Frederica Cof E Primary School in College Road, Kensal Rise. Having shot part of his film during a live school assembly with pupils singing songs, he decided to start a fundraiser to get them new equipment.
