Chris Barrie had a surprise for the Red Dwarf fans attending the recent OPTIMUS: South West Film and TV Convention in Torquay.
Speaking at the Red Dwarf panel, according to the Daily Express, he was able to reveal that Red Dwarf XI will be broadcast in March 2016 and the follow up Red Dwarf XII is believed to be aired in autumn in 2017.
He added that there will be six 30-minute episodes per series, including the much rumoured four Krytens episode. He told the fans that the idea of the four Kryten idea came about after Craig Charles (Lister) and Danny John-Jules (Cat) had picked up the spare heads and ran about doing versions of Kryten (Robert Llewellyn) in Scouse and West Indian accents, while Chris has always been able to impersonate the mechanoid.

Both series are being filmed back-to-back.
