Red Dwarf XII Episode 6 recording report – The Last Day …

CdGWcWLWwAANYRtWhat started last October ended yesterday evening with two full series of Red Dwarf recorded.

The last episode certainly did not disappoint. With fans talking about the episode being “mind blowing”, “nostalgic”, “emotional” and amazing.

All that is left to do now (besides CGI, post production, dubbing and adding the soundtrack, etc.) is a long wait until the series is finally aired.

In the meantime we thank Chris Barrie, Robert Llewellyn, Craig Charles, Danny John-Jules, Doug Naylor and all the crew for all their hard work over the last six months.

Also a big thank you to all our amazing reporters over the last few weeks: we could not have done this without you!!

To end we wish a very happy birthday to Mr Robert Llewellyn!!

As recordings of Red Dwarf XII progresses the cast are exhausted but strangely seem to get more cheerful, according to the fans visiting the live recordings of episode 5.

Red Dwarf XII Episode 4 recording report – “Like a séance”

A more relaxed recording for the cast this week with the episode focussing it’s attention on the main cast and the story set on the ship. One code word seems to be “memories” …

A highlight outside of the story seemed to be Chris Barrie and Craig Charles joking about the 28th anniversary of the series: Read the rest of this entry »

Red Dwarf XII Episode 3 recording report – A Much Better Day

hhhbAfter a very tough night last week, the Boys from the Dwarf returned on Friday night for a rather more relaxed recording.
The episode has already received a lot of praise and has been compared to episodes like Meltdown (and not like Meltdown at all) stylistically.
Most interesting was that some scenes were not performed or played in but read live by the cast as they were not finished.
This means that the episode was probably heavily re-written beforehand.
Other sequences were shown on storyboard clips.

This weeks review comes from Becca Marriott. Read the rest of this entry »

Red Dwarf XII Episode 2 recording report – Not A Good Day …

hhhbThe second episode of Red Dwarf XII was recorded on Friday. Of all episodes recorded so far this one seems to have been the most difficult one for the cast, the crew and the audience. Technical errors, exhaustion and the like all playing it’s part.
Danny John-Jules certainly felt it the next day:

Red Dwarf XII Episode 1 recording report – A big start!!

CRIbjz0WEAAh8HiSeries XI is barely in the can but already the production of season XII is in full swing. It started officially on January the 20th with several long cold night shoots on the coldest days of the year. Obviously not the healthiest thing to do and the lovely Chris Barrie must have fallen victim to the icy temperatures as he was quite unwell over the week and had to miss several pre-shoots.

Here to tell us all about this weeks live recordings are Tim Shaw, Doctor/Donna and Richard Gladstone – thank you all!! Read the rest of this entry »

Red Dwarf XI Episode 6 recording report – The “nightmare” before Christmas

CRIbjz0WEAAh8HiThe last Red Dwarf live recording before the Christmas break was always going to be special, but when the writer and director both announced that it was going to be big and ambitious we all knew it would be VERY special and it was.
A big guest set, a huge guest cast and script changes till the last minute and an abrupt ending with two scenes left undone. Read the rest of this entry »

Red Dwarf XI Episode 5 recording report – A difficult night …

imageedit_1_8702850431gThe recording of Red Dwarf XI Episode 5 was probably one of the toughest recording nights in the series history. Fire alarms, a malfunction, missing lines and long set changes all conspired against cast and crew. Read the rest of this entry »

Red Dwarf XI Episode 4 recording report – The best yet?

ghhghgjgThe buzz before Friday’s recording was that this one would be different from all those that had gone before and afterwards the reactions on Twitter suggested it had worked.

Red Dwarf XI Episode 3 recording report

CRIbjz0WEAAh8HiQuite a different kind of atmos this week: with two episodes where the entire cast was involved (even though the second story was Cat centred) this week Kryten took centre stage. The android was faced with a difficult dilemma. Read the rest of this entry »
